Approximate value of contract is R 37,3 million.
The start of the 36,000 ton, R23million Pier 2 Truck Parking facility at Durban Harbour for Devtech on the 4th December 2007, has resulted in record tonnages of between 1,500 and 1,900 tons per 24 hour shift being achieved from our Verulam Asphalt Plant.
The nature of the Pier 2 contract, warrants the laying of an average of 1,000 tons of asphalt base course per night, and coupled with our normal daily production requirements, has resulted in these record production figures.Despite problems with abnormally heavy rain over December and January, clear night shifts produced regular 1,000 ton plus paving figures, with an overall best of 1,308 tons paved on the 4th December being the best achieved to date.
Phase 1 of 11,000 tons was handed over to the client on the 4th February, with the final handover of the remaining 45,000 m2 of 220mm thick base and surfacing (25,000 tons) scheduled for end of March 2008.
MR 94 Inanda – MT Edgecombe Arterial
We have recently being awarded a R 8,5 million mill and replace contract on MR 94 by the KZN Department of Transport. The contract involves approximately 20,000 m2 of asphalt milling, together with 11,000 tons of asphalt inlay and overlay paving.
The contract is due to start middle of February 2008.
