Sanyati Coastal has evolved into an organisation skilled in providing cost-effective broad-based civil engineering solutions. Although the division has a preference for large infrastructure projects, it undertakes work almost across the board and has earned its place in the industry as a reputable, ethical and financially sound construction company.

Integrated experience
Sanyati Coastal trades mainly in KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape, and the division’s accomplishments today are attributable to the successful mergers and acquisitions of Afriscan Construction (Pty) Limited, Deroma Structures, Rusinga Building (Pty) Limited and Sanprop over the past four years.
Afriscan Construction (Pty) Limited was established in 1988, focusing on civil engineering (roads, townships, earthworks) and was originally established as a construction and plant hire company.
Sanyati Building (Pty) Limited undertakes building works within the Sanyati group, for both private and government clients. Projects include residential developments, hospital and school construction and renovations, industrial factories and office developments.
Sanprop is a well established property developer involved in commercial, industrial and residential developments, with an experienced team of professionals providing turnkey development solutions.
Operational excellence
This Durban-based division comprises a team of dynamic, motivated and qualified engineers, whose experience covers most activities in general civil engineering contracting. This, together with its implementation and monitoring of good quality control systems and tight fiscal control, is evident in the division’s track record and excellent results achieved over the years.
The division’s accomplishments include many highlights, but the following projects are noteworthy achievements:
- The AC pipe replacement across the greater Durban area over the last three years at a value of more than R400 million to date.
- Riverhorse Bulk Earthworks, to date one of the biggest bulk earthworks contracts in the Durban area.
- Two road contracts between Mount Edgecombe and King Shaka Airport.
The majority of Sanyati Coastal’s commitments are either municipal or government projects and include the following:
- Mount Edgecombe to Verulam – Road widening and upgrade
- Verulam to King Shaka Airport – Road widening and upgrade
- Access to Greenville Hospital – Upgrade of access road
- King Shaka Airport JV with WHBO and Group 5
- Ridgeside Precinct infrastructure
- Enkanyenizini Water
Sustainable growth
The division prides itself on its comprehensive experience, professional resources and strong client-centric approach, and audits itself constantly to ensure that standards are maintained.
With projects of more than R745 million in the pipeline, including Western Aqueduct, the Cornubia housing project and Amathole Water Idutywa Water supply, the division is set to challenge the future.
