Broad-Based Black Economic Development

Sanyati achieved a level 3 contributor status (as per the Construction industry charter) in June 2010. Our achievement of this status was the result of ongoing improvement in all elements of the scorecard as we constantly seek to improve our rating.e suitably qualified people from every demographic sector of society

Sanyati subscribes to a policy of employment equity that reflects the diversity that exists in South Africa. We ensure that suitably qualified people from every demographic sector of society are provided with equal opportunity at all levels.  Provision has been made to identify and eliminate any unfair discrimination and for the training, support and mentoring of historically disadvantaged individuals for more senior positions

Empowerdex, a top economic empowerment rating agency, has scored Sanyati as an “A” grade company which confirms the benefit and success of our BBBEE initiatives. We also have an internal reporting system that assists us in improving and sustaining our BBBEE status.

Regional partners

Key to our success is our approach to regional empowerment and participation. We recognise the importance of identifying and building relationhips with local business wherever we operate. These relationships provide us with a platform to maximise the multiple empowerment possibilities available to each project.

Working with our partners, we seek to employ locally wherever possible, provide training and skills transfer, ensure maximum local procurement and identify appropriate corporate social investment projects with community leaders.

The Human Resource policies aim to ensure that the Group is able to attract and retain historically disadvantaged individuals (HDI).   This does not exclude or hinder the progress of individuals who fail outside the HDI group.  As a result of these policies, Sanyati has achieved a top ten ranking in the employment equity category of the Financial Mail’s “Top Empowerment Companies 2011”.

The composition of the main board is reflective of the direction the Group is taking in light of transformation. The main board has three black directors and two female directors. 76% of our permanent workforce is black and 11% is female. 26% of our management team is black.
