Malcolm Lobban (Chief Executive Officer)
Rick Jackson (Non Executive Chairman)
Rick qualified in 1979 with a Diploma in Civil
Engineering at Natal Technikon whilst employed at the eThekwini
Council. In 1984, studying part time, he completed his Diploma in Civil
Engineering Technology and joined a Civil Engineering Contracting
Company to gain valuable experience of the industry.
In 1988, Rick started Afriscan as one of three founding members and
successfully grew the company rapidly to become one of the Business Day
non-listed company finalists for five years running from 1995 –
1999. In 1991, Rick became an associate member of the Association of
Arbitration and completed a two year Advanced Business Programme at
Natal Technikon.
In 1993, Rick completed a Construction Management Programme at
Stellenbosch University and in 1994 was presented an award for business
excellence by British Airways. In 2003 as CEO of Afriscan Holdings,
Rick facilitated and co-ordinated the service agreements between Deroma
Structures, Brisk Asphalt, Rusinga Building and Afriscan Construction
under the financial control of a new holding company identity –
Sanyati Holdings. Rick recognized the opportunity that existed for
property development and founded Sanprop in 2003 to develop industrial,
commercial and residential properties.
John Deeb (Chief Financial Officer)
John qualified as a chartered accountant in 1986. He gained exposure to the construction industry at Murray and Roberts, where he reached the position of Group Financial Controller in 2001 and became a director of Murray & Roberts International Ltd. He joined ADvTECH Ltd in 2004 and held positions as Group Financial Director, CEO of the Tertiary Division and finally Group Commercial Director of ADvTECH.
Moses Sangweni (Human Resources Director)
Moses has a diploma in HR Development and
Training. He has completed numerous courses relating to Skills
Development and Industrial Relations. He has attended a course in
Financial Management for non-financial managers. He has been in
the construction industry since 1982 when he started off as a soils
laboratory assistant, survey assistant and ended up being the Training
Officer where he was trained in a range of construction skills.
From training, he developed into an Industrial Relations Practitioner
where he was extensively involved in the full spectrum of H.R.
management and interacted with trade unions. This was during the
period 1988 to 1994 where he worked for metal and sugar industries as a
specialist I.R practitioner.
In 1995, Moses was employed back in the construction industry as a
Training Manager and in 1997 was promoted to H.R Director. Moses
also project manages the company’s emerging contractor
development projects.
Rowan Crowie (Non-Executive Director)
Rowan graduated from the University of Natal
Durban with a B Sc Building Management degree in 1993. He was a bursary
student with Murray and Roberts and worked for a number of the Group
construction subsidiaries before moving into the project management
field.
He joined the South African Reserve Bank in 1998 where he managed their
property portfolio and was instrumental in implementing and delivering
a number of strategic capital projects.
In 2000 Rowan, with his brother Clinton, started a project management
company, Crowie Projects, and were responsible for project management
appointments for clients such as Airports Company South Africa, the IDT
and Anglo Platinum.
In 2002 Crowie Projects merged with PM Africa, to form Focus Project
Management with Rowan as one of the executive directors. He established
Enza Construction and restructured Crowie Projects as a development
company in 2003 where he currently acts as Managing Director.
As a Ruthcon shareholder, Rowan has also served as a director on the
Ruthcon board since 2004. Rowan is currently also the Group CEO of
Crowie Holdings.
Michael Hans Dlamini (Non-Executive Director)
In 1996 Michael completed his National Diploma in Quantity Surveying at
Mangosuthu Technikon in 1996 and went on to complete a BSc in
Construction Management at the University of Natal in 1999.
In addition to being a member of the Black Management Forum, Michael
holds several other professional memberships and affiliates included
but not limited to the Association of South African Project Managers
and The Chartered Institute of Building (UK).
Michael is currently the owner and a Director of Project Management
Solutions Africa, a company he founded in 2002. Under the mentorship of
Don Mkhwanazi the company has been built into an industry leader and is
involved in several prestigious projects including the Durban ICC and
Freedom Square in Pretoria.
Nhlanhla Khambule (Non-Executive Director)
Besides having recently completed his Masters in Development Finance with Stellenbosch University, Nhlanhla possesses extensive managerial and leadership experience. He has been the CEO of Vantage Holding for the past 13 years, a company that focuses on Economic Modelling, Corporate Finance, Strategy and Human Capital Development as well as the Training of Audit Committee Members. Over and above serving on the Board of Sanyati since 2006 and being the Chairman of Sanyati’s Audit Committee, Nhlanhla also serves on the Boards of Ithala Development Corporation and Futurekids Southern Africa.
Between 1999 and 2001 he completed a BTech Degree and Advanced Business Programme with Durban University of Technology (DUT).
Michael Roderick Gahagan (Non-Executive Director)
Mike was born in January 1953. He is married with two adult children. He has a BComm (Hons), with distinction, from Rhodes University and is a Chartered Accountant by training.
In 1976, he joined Arthur Andersen & Co, and was responsible for audit and special investigations for the Manufacturing, Banks and Financial Services specialist groups.
In 1982, Mike joined Liberty Holdings, reporting to Donald Gordon. In 1984, he joined Barlow Rand and held various senior positions as Chief Executive of both listed and unlisted companies, including the steel and engineering divisions, the motor and leasing businesses, and the overseas import/export interests of the group. He was a main board Executive Director until he left to join Hunt Leuchars & Hepburn Ltd in a similar capacity in 1994, where he was responsible for the timber holdings group, with its ultimate unbundling and sale. In 1996, Mike was appointed an executive director of Imperial Holdings, Ltd, responsible for, inter alia, motor retail, insurance and banking interests. In September 1997, he acquired a major holding in IOTA Investment Services (formerly The Pride Group) and formed IOTA Financial Services Ltd, which listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange on 20 April 1998, and served as CEO until August 2001.
In December 2001 he acquired ARCAY Private Financial Services and became Chief Executive Officer which has amongst other operations a strong focus on developing and financing entrepreneurial based businesses. He is a founder and director of Rifumo Investment Holdings (Pty) Ltd, and a non-executive director of IFCA Technologies Engineering (Pty) Ltd. |
