Strategy

Geographical diversification is a key objective for Sanyati as we seek to reduce our dependence on public sector infrastructural spend in South Africa.  This diversification is manifested by the pursuit and ultimate award of specific projects within select countries in the rest of Africa.  A risk identification and mitigation framework has been designed and implemented as we embark of this journey.  Our intention is to secure contracts which offer attractive margins within acceptable execution risk assessment criteria.  Our aim is to grow these initial contract opportunities into the establishment of permanent businesses in those countries/regions where the scale and range of infrastructure needs to match Sanyati’s capability.

Growth in the volume and value of Sanyati’s activities in growth markets such as water, distribution, fibre optic cable laying etc (as described above) is a second important strategy of the Group.

Following our achievement of level 3 status this year, the ongoing improvement with our BBBEE scorecard on all levels with the objective of achieving a level 2 status with the next 2 years.  A realistic employment equity strategy, underpinned by a growing business with a demand for increased human capital is the most important challenge in this regard.

Our collective efforts are aimed at creating a culture where health, safety and environment management behaviour is seen as a competitive advantage

The achievement of clearly defined goals in the vital areas of environmental management and ongoing improvement with our excellent track record in health and safety .  These goals includes  ISO14001 compliance by April 2012, the training of appropriately capable staff to become fully functional health, safety and environmental managers, the implementation of a waste minimisation and carbon footprint reduction strategy and an energy saving campaign.  Our collective efforts are aimed at creating a culture where health, safety and environment management behaviour is seen as a competitive advantage rather than a legislative compliance requirement.
